Pierced Ears..

We finally got Jessie's ears pierced. I don't think she liked it.

I was supposed to go with my Mom and Sisters to take her, but well I sat in the car instead. I thought I might have to 'jump' the girl doing it for hurting my girl.

She survived and is cuter than ever!!

She didn't have a good 24 hours.. Ears pierced one day and the next morning her first fall.. Oh man. I stayed the weekend at my Mom's cause Cody was hunting. Me and my Sister, Kenadie were getting ready in my Mom's bathroom. We put Jess in her stroler, unbuckled. Jessie is so squirmy and she kept sliding down the stroller. I was standing there straighting my hair and the next thing I know she's laying face first on the floor, screaming. Worst mother of the day was awarded to me that day! She was ok with a bottle. I cried more than she did. It was so sad. Can I put her in a bubble forever so she never has to get hurt again? Or have to see all the bad things that go on in the world today? Please?

  1. Mersadie,

Was searching for a GF's blog and came across yours. Started reading and came across your post on having your dd's ears pierced.

Our ped encouraged me to do it early too. I think you were a smart and thoughtful mommy for piercing your dd's ears now when you can care for them. She'll thank you later.

Admittedly, I know a lot of people have strong feelings when to pierce a child’s ear. “Let them decide” is being replaced by parental decision when mommy intuition knows, “earlier is better” from either personal or friend’s experiences of unpleasant childhood ear piercing.

Congrats on making a thoughtful decision on behalf of your dd's. I think babies with earrings are the cutest things. It celebrates their femininity and femaleness. After all, they are little girls. Our ped gave me some tips for "Care of Newly Pierced Ears."

Promise your dd will thank you later for the "gift of pierced ears" as an infant. If you or any mom would like any of our ped’s care tips for infants, then don’t hesitate to write me an e-mail.
